Job Description

Position Purpose: 

As a financial analyst on the Financial Services team, you will support financial services portfolios with  financial and operational tasks. In addition to forecasts and budgeting activities, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stores to analyze portfolio performance, support operational initiatives (i.e. store contests, roll-out of new products, etc.) and identify opportunities to grow and transform the portfolios. You will help ensure that the Home Depot’s customers both internally and externally receive the highest level of service and support.

  • Analyze information and develop reports to drive the business and to improve the “bottom line”.
  • Prepare financial analysis and forecasts for the use in the development of financial business decisions.
  • Prepare journal entries for month-end reconciliation process.
  • Participate in budget preparations and analysis.
  • Maintain company records in accordance with general accounting principles.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of the reporting systems.
  • Provide analysis that add value to the business and allows for the making of strategically sound decisions.
  • Compile or prepare reports, graphs and charts of developed data.
  • Gather and collate basic information using established and defined financial procedures.
  • Accounts payable responsibilities including vendor file maintenance, creation of vendor payment cycles and vendor invoice creation.
  • Identify opportunities to maximize profitability of business and support stakeholders in development of yearly plan.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to reduce friction points during project lifecycles to guarantee milestone/project completion occurs on time and in accordance with existing policies and procedures.
  • Apply an entrepreneurial, customer-centric lens to existing program workflows to define, plan and execute on net-new optimization opportunities.
  • Analyze potential impacts to project/program goals posed by cross-functional partner initiatives (internal and external) and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate store engagement efforts including but not limited to training and contests.
  • Demonstrate a customer-focused mindset in all activities—our customers are not just in the store, they are our internal partners as well!

Experience/Knowledge Required:

  • Internal Candidates: Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (M+ Meets Expectations).
  • Education preferred: a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, or comparable business experience. Accounting designation preferred.
  • Years of Relevant Work Experience: 2 to 3 years of Financial/Accounting experience.
  • Experience in the financial services or retail industry a plus.
  • Exhibits a high level of integrity, actions are consistent with words; follows through on commitments.
  • Team player who works cooperatively with coworker and demonstrates inclusive behavior in all interactions with customers and coworkers.
  • Adaptable, embraces change and adjusts quickly to changing work demands; prioritizes tasks to be consistent with organizational vision and department objectives.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, operate under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel, MS Word, and Powerpoint.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, highly-motivated team player.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Learns new skills quickly and demonstrates a growth mindset (committed to self-development and learning).
