Title:  Sr. Manager, Interconnected Merchandising Strategy                     

Position Overview:  

Reporting to the Director, Interconnected Merchandising Strategy, the Senior Manager of Interconnected Merchandising Strategy drives the online merchandising strategy for homedepot.ca and leads its integration with core retail merchandising. 

This strategic leadership role is critical for delivering a consistent "One Home Depot" multi-channel customer experience. In this role the sr. manager will drive and execute the interconnected online merchandising strategy, including pricing, delivery experience, and event planning, to directly enhance the customer experience. 

The sr. manager, interconnected merchandising will act as a key liaison between the merchandising and ecommerce divisions, influencing prioritization of investments and allocation of resources to drive alignment between the interconnected costumer experience ‘ICE’ and merchandising strategic roadmaps. 

 

This role is responsible for leading a team that provides strategic operational support to the Merchandising organization.    

 

Key Responsibilities:                     

  • Act as a key decision maker to define, execute and optimize the online merchandising strategy for homedepot.ca taking into account overall divisional merchandise strategies, cost structures, competitive environment, customer preferences, online shopping behaviours, etc.  
  • Partner with Directors of Merchandising and Merchants to determine and manage the financial targets for online categories, which includes determining assortment decisions and mix, pricing and delivery/fulfillment strategies.  
  • Partner with the pricing team and merchants to establish pricing rules for online assortments, conduct pricing reviews and establish automated price change logic. 
  • Collaborate with channel management to develop assortment channel strategies that accelerate speed-to-market and strategically manage e-commerce inventory investments. 
  • Develop self-service tools for the online merchants to actively manage online assortments, pricing, inventory and event performance. 
  • Identify through analysis of homedepot.com and competitive assortments, opportunity to grow assortments and sales for homedepot.ca 
  • Establish metrics and reporting to measure progress against strategic goals related to online assortment growth, sales from new articles, direct fulfillment inventory productivity 
  • Accountable for supporting Online Merchants with eCommerce sales growth, competitive pricing index (CPI) measures, eCommerce gross margin and inventory productivity (turns) 
  • Liaise with US strategy and pricing teams to leverage data/tools and implement best practices. 
  • Establish and maintain cross functional relationships throughout the organization and ensure effective communication / coordination within and between teams and with senior leadership 
  • Responsible for team development and mentorship including building an efficient talent pipeline.

  • Strong presentation/communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 

 

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:                     

  • Reports to Director, Interconnected Merchandising Strategy 
  • Typically has 1-3 direct reports 

 

Travel Requirements:                     

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time             

Physical Requirements:                     

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles       

 

Hybrid Work:                     

  • Flex                     

 

Working Conditions:                     

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable   

 

Minimum Education:                     

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field         

Minimum Years of Work Experience: 

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in merchandising, e-commerce, or category management in a national multi store environment.
