Rental Operations Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Rental Operations Manager to lead key initiatives and deliver exceptional customer service within our Tool, Equipment, and Vehicle Rental business. This role is pivotal in driving business growth through strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and the effective execution of operational projects and programs. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, analytical thinking, and a passion for innovation in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Drive Growth and Profitability

  • Lead initiatives to increase revenue and margin in the rental business
  • Analyze trends, review weekly metrics, and create actionable plans to capitalize on opportunities
  • Ensure alignment with company values and operational excellence

2. Lead Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Develop, pilot, and oversee the rollout of new and cyclical operational programs
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage P&L to ensure financial targets are met
  • Maintain a strategic fact base to support data-driven executive decisions

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with key teams including Technology, Learning, Safety & AP, and E-Commerce to drive initiatives that support rental growth
  • Contribute to the development of digital tools, training content, and process improvements
  • Share field insights and operational strategies to enhance visibility, adoption, and effectiveness across channels

4. Enhance Store Operations and Field Execution

  • Create and communicate best practices for store-level rental operations
  • Develop playbooks, communication plans, and workload management tools
  • Standardize rental operational processes to ensure consistency, safety, and service excellence
  • Collaborate with field leaders and associates to promote best practices in fleet repair and maintenance
  • Influence the successful rollout and adoption of new programs and standards at store and district levels

Required Skills

  • Strong time management and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Proven leadership and team development experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to present proposals and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Adaptable and able to navigate change in a dynamic environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional partnerships
  • Results-oriented with a sense of urgency and accountability

Position Details

  • Reports To: Senior Manager, Rental Operations
  • Travel Requirements: 10–25% (including overnights)
  • Physical Requirements: Extended sitting, repetitive tasks, computer use
  • Working Conditions: Office setting with virtual meetings

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA with a concentration in Business Administration preferred
  • Experience:
    • 5–7 years of experience at The Home Depot or equivalent retail environment
    • 2+ years of team management experience, preferably in home improvement or building industry
  • Additional Assets: Bilingual in English/French preferred
