Position Purpose

The Manager of Systems Hardware and Infrastructure is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing hardware roadmaps, lifecycle and deployment, infrastructure, mobile solutions, and networking operations within the organization. This manager will work closely with decision makers in other areas to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective hardware and network technology solutions for Store and non-Store locations. This role will also network between business and technical teams within Canada and US on on-going projects. This will include monitoring progress to ensure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met along with defining and implementing IT policies, procedures, and best practices.

Responsibilities:

Hardware Roadmap and Lifecycle Management:

  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for the organization's hardware infrastructure.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of hardware, ensuring upgrades and replacements align with business needs.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to evaluate and select hardware solutions.


Mobile Solutions:

  • Lead the development and execution of the organization's mobile strategy.
  • Manage the deployment, configuration, and support of mobile devices and solutions.
  • Ensure the security, compliance, and functionality of mobile platforms.


Networking Operations:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's networking systems.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to optimize network performance.


Team Leadership:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Manage workload distribution, performance evaluations, and resource allocation.


Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with the overall business goals.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align IT initiatives with organizational objectives.


Budget Management:


Vendor Management:

  • Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts, monitor service levels, and ensure vendor performance meets expectations.


Project Management:

  • Work with team members and cross functional teams to define and scope new projects.
  • Provide work breakdown structure for assigned projects.
  • Provide baseline budget and schedule estimate for projects.
  • Lead project team meetings and facilitate tracking/completion of action items.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports on all assigned projects.



Experience / Knowledge Required:

  • Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (Meets Expectations and Consistently Demonstrates).
  • 5+ Years of Relevant Work Experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Equivalent Work Experience.
  • Proven experience in a managerial role overseeing hardware roadmaps, infrastructure, mobile solutions, and networking.
  • Strong knowledge of IT best practices, security principles, and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management experience and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to attract, motivate and retain top talent.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization (analyst to vice-president).
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Influential; practiced in negotiating with others in ways that result in win-win outcomes.
