Job Description

As Manager, Social Media, you will be the social media thought leader within the organization. Your primary responsibility is to help deliver the in-store and ecommerce growth targets for the Home Depot Canada. You will lead your team to manage a full circle of program deliverables including budgeting, program optimization, competitive research, reporting and analysis. You will also champion innovation across platforms to ensure our social presence remains performance-driven, as well as aligned with brand strategy.

Key Responsibilities:                                                                                                                                             

Social Media Strategy & Performance

  • Develop the strategic roadmap for social media related activities and capabilities
  • Develop tactical plans for all campaigns targeting multiple sections of the conversion funnel
  • Interface with the marketing and planning teams to deploy new campaigns or make program modifications; execute corporate and full-serve vendor funded campaigns
  • Social program upkeep; daily / weekly budget pacing and optimization to deliver against the forecast of the business, in terms of store visits (where possible) and HomeDepot.ca revenue
  • Review and optimize always on programs such as DPA and Pinterest Shopping
  • Lead all Social Media testing plans as well as incrementality testing

Social Media Content & Insights

  • A significant focus on developing captivating ad creative in collaboration with the production team
  • Use social listening tools to discover and monitor industry trends, audience sentiment, share of voice, customer interactions, sales opportunities and content creation ideas
  • Weekly, monthly and ad hoc campaign reporting and analysis to multiple stakeholders including marketing, merchandising, planning and senior leadership
  • Stay abreast of the latest offerings from Facebook / Instagram, Pinterest and other platforms, with a strong focus on innovation and testing

Skills:                                                                                                                                           

  • Thought leader in the field of social media; seen as a subject matter expert by peers and organizational leadership
  • Expert knowledge of the interworking within Meta, Pinterest, TikTok, and Reddit platforms
  • A deep understanding of what drives social media engagement and what levers can be actioned to enhance engagement and conversion
  • A strong understanding of audience targeting using multiple data sources
  • Excellent presentation skills; ability to synthesize complex topics and ideas and explain them in a coherent and understandable way to senior management across different functions
  • Analytics expertise; able to organize and present data that explains a cause-and-effect relationship that the organization can learn from and that can be used for further program optimization
  • Naturally curious, with an inclination to problem solve and uncover meaning
  • Bias towards action and results
  • Retail industry experience is an asset

Minimum Education:                                                                                                                                           

  • University/College degree in a related area of study, or equivalent experience

                                                                                                        

Minimum Years of Work Experience:                                                                                                              

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience

                                                                                                        

Minimum Leadership Experience:

  • Minimum five years experience leading a team; preferably within the Digital Media space
  • Strong ability to influence and build relationships with key stakeholders 

Certifications:                                                                                                                                          

  • Any media platform certifications considered an asset

                                                                                                                                                     

Other Requirements/Assets:                                                                                                                                             

  • Experience with media buying & planning in a retail environment
