Position Overview:         

The Field Capital Project Manager (FCPM) executes the in-store research, planning and project management of all of the annual merchandising strategic initiatives. The FCPM will be involved in taking a project from a concept stage through to execution in the store. The FCPM will work with multiple cross functional partners to bring these projects through to fruition.                                                                                                                                        

Key Responsibilities:                                                                                                                                             

  • Lead the implementation of all Merchandising Strategic Initiatives within the assigned regions/stores working with Merchandising Operations leadership
  • Lead Merchandising Strategic Initiatives from information gathering, modeling and test/pilot phase through full and complete implementation.
  • Lead merchandising strategy through partnership with Store planning, Space Planning, Construction, Logistics, Merchandising, Operations. 
  • Collaborate with Merchants on conceptual plans for resets / remodels
  • Coordinate with the store planning team on space allocation within various prototypes
  • Conduct category analysis in conjunction with the assortment planning team to ensure space productivity and allocation
  • Provide and present draft layouts for Merchandising SLT approval
  • Coordinate product adjacencies changes on store layouts, based on department priorities.
  • Work with the fixture design team to maximize space productivity through the introduction of new fixtures where required
  • Ensure that layouts allow for future changes with minimal cost or disruption to the stores
  • Collaborate with the Visual Merchandising team on point of purchase concepts
  • Project manage each initiative from the start through to the execution stage
  • Develop project charters, process and timelines for each project
  • Report on risks, roadblocks and toll gate adherence throughout the project
  • Obtain full partnership with field execution while maintaining direct alignment with Merchandising Strategic Initiatives.
  • Must ensure timely and accurate communication to the field and cross functional team on critical issues

Hybrid Work:                                                                                                                                           

  • Location Multisite – In-Office 4 days a week when not on-location in store or other Home Depot location.                                                                                                                           

Working Conditions:                                                                                                                                            

  • Working in an office setting: computer work, camera on virtual meetings, taking support calls.
  • Working in a store /warehouse environment that can be dusty and noisy. Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

Minimum Education:                                                                                                                                           

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree/college diploma program or equivalent program in a field of study related to the job

Minimum Years of Work Experience:                                                                                                              

  • 5 years of relevant work experience; experience as Merchant, Buyer, District Manager or Store Manager in a large format retailer
  • Experience supporting multiple units across a wide geography, preferably in a large format retailer
