Position Overview:     

The District Rental Technician reports to the Regional Rental Manager and provides support across Districts 230 and 249. This role is responsible for optimizing rental operations, coaching and supporting Tool Rental Technicians, and partnering closely with Rental Supervisors, while actively promoting a strong culture of selling within the Rental business. 

Key Responsibilities:          

                              

  • Coaching and supporting rental operations standards, rental safety standards, improving damage protection attach rates assisting with diagnosis and repairs of fleet equipment. 
  • Work with leadership to identify and visit top-priority stores, providing virtual support for remote locations as needed. 
  • Mentor store technicians to ensure adherence to the Down Tool process and coach on efficient tool turnaround, repairs, parts ordering, expense details, fleet optimization, and transfers. 
  • Provide support to Tool Technicians during their absences to ensure continued service coverage. 
  • Engage with the District team to foster operational excellence. 
  • Prepare weekly summaries and deliver insights on rental performance to District Managers, Store Managers, and store rental leaders. 
  • Deliver on sales and operational metrics 
  • Support RRM and TCSM in promoting store-wide Rental awareness and Pro engagement. 
  • Support and execute new programs and initiatives as required 
  • Confirm parts are ordered and Repair Depot notes are complete and accurate. 
  • Review Used Equipment list and support with merchandising strategies  
  • Complete preventative Maintenance as needed, prioritizing in season tools and winterization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Proven skill in tool and equipment repair; Small Engine Mechanic Certificate is preferred. 
  • Bilingual in English and French 

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:                                         

  • Regional Rental Manager  

Travel Requirements:                                         

  • May require overnight travel less than 10% of the time. 

Physical Requirements:                                         

  • May include physical demands such as lifting (up to 50 lbs.) from the waist, lifting from the shoulder, prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, crawling underneath equipment, climbing on top of equipment, reaching, and stretching.   
  • Environment will require repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements. Occasionally, associates will be required to climb onto equipment.   
  • Working indoors and outdoors; working around dirt, grease, fumes, oils, and chemicals; prolonged exposure to loud noises from engines, compressors, power tools, and equipment.

Minimum Education:                                         

  • High school diploma or GED  

Minimum Years of Work Experience:                                 

  • 2 years of relevant work experience      

Minimum Leadership Experience: 

  • 1 years of relevant work experience                          

Certifications:                                         

  • Valid Driver’s License for the province you reside in and good driving record.                                          

Other Requirements/Assets:                                         

  • Must be 18 years or older.  
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.  
  • Must pass a background check.  
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency Microsoft Office and handheld technology (smartphone, tablet, etc.)  
  • Resides within 25 kms of target city or willing to commute to base location.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively of Home Depot processes to diverse audiences  
  • Rental experience seen as an asset  
  • Flexible work shifts and may be required to work a rotating schedule including weekends 
  • Small Engine Mechanic Certificate preferred 
  • Personal vehicle is required, mileage will be expensed     
  • Perform other duties as assigned
