The Position:
 
The DC Operations Planning Manager is responsible for providing short and medium-term production plans for the Canadian Distribution Centres. Through a very close partnership with Distribution and Transportation, the DC Operations Planning Manager provides end to end visibility and planning, guidance and communication to the Distribution and Transportation leadership teams in order to ensure key performance indicators are met, production/staffing plans support throughput demand, building flow is balanced and load plans are efficient to ensure exceptional customer service to the Home Depot of Canada stores. 
Responsibilities:
•    Leads the Production and Operations Planning process within the Storage, Flow Through and Cross Dock DC networks 
•    Creates daily level detailed Production and Operations Plan including work sequencing, sets hourly production targets, makes staffing and transportation asset recommendations to ensure Transportation Store cut times are met and DC productivity is maximized 
•    Adjusts plans as needed throughout each day and partners with distribution to co-ordinate the rapid adjusting of available resources to maximize throughput and efficiency. 
•    Creates weekly and monthly level high level Production Plans while providing guidance on staffing, material handling equipment, transportation asset requirements and space/ dock door utilization. 
•    Partners and collaborates with DC leadership and Engineering to refine/ adjust productivity targets based on performance trending and changes to the work activity profile. 
•    Partners with Capacity Planning team on longer range (6 month horizon) labour and equipment planning, including modelling long term trend data
•    Identifies opportunities to continuously improve the Production Planning tools and process through identification of plan variances 
•    Partners with Inventory Planning and Replenishment and Vendor programs to identify channel and disposition related opportunities 
•    Educates and trains the leadership team on the production planning process, tools and resources available. 
•    Creates and maintains a “great place to work” through open, honest leadership and communication guided by The Home Depots values. 
•    Manages, mentors and coaches a team of production planning analysts 
Experience / Knowledge Required:
•    Internal Candidates: Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (M+, Meets expectation, Consistently demonstrates). Rating 
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Operations Management preferred. 
•    Minimum of 5 years in an Engineering Group or Distribution Operations management 
•    Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required 
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access and PowerPoint is preferred 
•    PLog or CITT designation would be a definite asset. 
•    Experience with a mechanized/automated distribution centers with multiple pick-pack processes would be a definite asset 
•    Experience with SAP ERP, Manhattan WMS and Manhattan TMS would be a definite asset. 
•    During startup of the western Canada distribution network, extensive travel will be required 
•    For training purposes, extensive travel to the United States during the first year of employment will be required 
•    Ability to work various shift hours including weekends and holidays
