Pay Range: $60,000 - $90,000

INTRODUCTION

This role is part of a dynamic team responsible for building strong relationships with cross-functional teams and Home Depot associates to create awareness of the Company’s products, services, strategic roadmap priorities, and corporate values within the diverse communities we serve. This includes promoting ways in which Home Depot supports and invests in our associates and our communities, and integrates diversity, equity, and inclusion (“DEI”) initiatives and representation into its business plans. The associate communications specialist is responsible for incorporating diversity and inclusion of all groups in internal communications where applicable.

POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the manager, associate communications, the specialist, associate communications, is responsible for coordinating and administering the Canadian Division’s internal communication vehicles (i.e. Canada Communications); supporting the development and execution of communication plans; and planning and executing internal events.

The ideal candidate builds strong relationships and has effective communication planning, writing and editing skills. They also have strong event planning skills.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer internal email communication vehicles, including editing copy, coordinating approvals, arranging for translation and distribution to targeted internal audiences
  • Partner with internal clients and cross functional teams to understand their communication needs; support the development of communication plans and tactics that align with key business priorities
  • Develop, review and edit materials in support of group, division and enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the timely execution of communication plans, and other initiatives as required, ensuring communication channel standards are adhered to
  • Lead and promote Home Depot’s focus on innovative products, services, capabilities, investments in the communities the Company serves, along with DEI initiatives, in internal communications where applicable.
  • Liaise and collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to ensure the timely and on-budget execution of events
  • Support the work of the wider associate communications team, as required

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Internal candidates: must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (M+, Meets Expectations and Consistently Demonstrates)
  • Degree in related field of study or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and balance multiple and often competing priorities
  • Communication and event planning skills with a keen attention to detail and deadlines
  • Superb writing and proof-reading skills including knowledge of Canadian Press style, and are adaptable to a variety of communication vehicles (i.e. print, web, social, video, presentations, etc.)
  • Ability to convert complex information to plain language and articulate clear, consistent messages
  • Ability to communicate with and influence employees at all levels
  • Communication planning skills with a keen attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to measure the effectiveness of communication plans
  • Effective presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver messages creatively and influence employees at all levels
  • Strong work ethic, enthusiastic self-starter and sense of responsibility and confidentiality
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams
  • Experience using Viva Engage an asset
  • Knowledge of Smartsheets is an asset
  • Experience working in retail/a store environment an asset 
  • IABC or CPRS certification an asset
  • CHRL designation an asset 
  • French language skills an asset (not required)

RESPONSABILITÉS

  • Gérer les divers moyens de communication interne relatifs aux courriels, y compris la révision, la gestion des approbations, les demandes de traduction et la distribution aux différents auditoires internes ciblés.
  • Collaborer avec les clients internes et les équipes interfonctionnelles pour comprendre leurs besoins en matière de communication; établir des plans et des stratégies de communication qui s’harmonisent aux priorités clés de l’entreprise.
  • Créer et réviser du contenu pour différentes initiatives à l’échelle de l’entreprise, de la division ou du groupe.
  • Collaborer avec les intervenants internes et externes pour assurer la mise en œuvre en temps opportun des plans de communication et d’autres initiatives, au besoin, en assurant le respect des normes des canaux de communication.
  • Promouvoir l’importance qu’accorde Home Depot à l’innovation par rapport aux produits et services, aux compétences, aux investissements dans ses collectivités, ainsi qu’aux initiatives en matière de DEI dans les communications internes, le cas échéant.
  • Collaborer avec les intervenants internes et les fournisseurs externes pour mettre en œuvre des événements en respectant les échéances et le budget.

EXPÉRIENCE ET CONNAISSANCES REQUISES

  • Candidats internes : ancienneté (un an) et code de rendement (répond aux attentes).
  • Diplôme dans un champ d’études pertinent au poste ou combinaison de formation et d’expérience équivalente.
  • Au moins deux ans d’expérience dans un domaine connexe.
  • Capacité à organiser, à définir et à gérer des priorités multiples et souvent concurrentes.
  • Aptitudes pour la planification des communications et des événements en accordant une attention particulière aux détails et aux échéances.
