Position Overview:

As a Field Service Professional (FSP), you will maintain a variety of light industrial equipment found in The Home Depot retail locations and manufacturing facilities (ex. Distribution Centers, etc.), including but not limited to paint shakers, saws, blind cutting machines, and lift equipment. This position requires someone that is a self-starter, who is eager to “hit the road" and is driven to ensure equipment is working correctly to support Excellent Customer Service. This role provides preventative maintenance and repairs in various assigned locations that requires travel to the assigned Home Depot stores with a designated company vehicle.


Key Responsibilities:
Preventative Maintenance and Repairs

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and service light industrial equipment both mechanically and electrically.
  • Troubleshoot, adapt, and resolve/repair all issues to keep equipment functioning properly.
  • Test each system after service/repair is complete to ensure the system is functioning properly.
  • Perform inspection of customer systems to prevent future issues.
  • Read mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics as required.


Excellent customer service and teamwork

  • FSPs are responsible for fostering a culture of customer service & support and GET involved to exceed customer expectations.
  • Be available and accessible by phone/tablet daily during scheduled hours as required.
  • Coach and mentor peers in the FSP & Maintenance Service Professional (MSP) roles & collaborate to complete repairs effectively.
  • Maintain Home Depot vehicle and personal appearance.


Communication & Documentation

  • Provide daily detailed and clear service reports.
  • Use technical applications for word processing, modification of excel spreadsheets, inventory control, and reporting.
  • Use assigned technology (ex. phone, tablet, apps, etc.) effectively to complete daily tasks.
  • Communicate regularly with store leadership team and store support center (SSC) associates.
  • Communicate effectively about service/repairs performed with store leadership team, associates, and peers.


Safety compliance

  • Use sound judgment or partnering with a peer/leader when dealing with and eliminating safety related issues.
  • Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Follow all safety related SOPs.
  • Use the proper tool for the task at hand.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • Reports to HDES Area Supervisor and Regional Service Equipment Manager.


Travel Requirements:

  • Requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time depending on market demand.
  • Regular travel required between stores in assigned market.


Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires all day standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing with frequent lifting and/or moving items up to 50lbs.
  • Occasionally, employee will be required to work at heights and climb onto equipment and ensuring safety procedures are followed.
  • Environment will require driving for extended periods of time.
  • Working conditions may include working indoors and outdoors in extreme hot and cold temperatures and damp areas.


Working Conditions:

  • Various Home Depot stores or Home Depot owned locations.
  • Regular scheduled shifts may include weekends and may be asked to work outside of regularly scheduled shifts.
  • Follow dispatch schedule generated electronically, daily.


Minimum Education:

  • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent


Minimum Years of Work Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in machine/tool repair and troubleshooting and/or 2 years of experience in performing light industrial equipment repair.


Minimum Leadership Experience:

  • None


Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License for the province you reside in and good driving record.


Other Requirements/Assets:

  • Must be 18 year or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Education from a Technical or Trade school an asset.
  • Resides within 50 kms of target city.
  • Must be able to read mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics as required.
  • Working knowledge of handheld technology (smartphone, laptop, tablet, etc.).
  • Wrench-in-hand experience (mechanical, engineering, electrical, copiers, or cable installation).
  • Versatile equipment maintenance repair skill set.
  • Must provide own standard tools used in the trade/craft.
  • Ability to read and understand parts list.
  • Basic electrical experience an asset.
