Job Description
Technical professional in the Big Data & Analytics space with a strong track record in cloud data architecture design-and-development for innovative big data and analytics solutions. Working with Canada Technology leadership and with support from US counterparts and vendors, this role will be responsible for driving the reporting and analytics technology architecture for Canada and for providing technical oversight during the execution of analytics related initiatives. The Cloud Data Architect will also work with multiple stakeholders within technology and cross-functional business areas to support the realization of enterprise objectives across multiple business domains.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and review data pipelines and provide implementation support to the team.
  • Provide technical thought leadership and solution expertise around emerging Big Data & Analytics technologies.
  • Proactively recommend improvements in the data and analytics space and new approaches to address potential systemic pain points and technical debt.
  • Provide architectural and security guidance and support to technology stacks related to reporting, big data and analytics.
  • Mentor the teams at all levels, fostering an innovative environment where technical excellence, reliability, and measurability is nurtured.
  • Conduct industry research to identify/monitor trends and evaluate new methodologies, technologies and tools. Work with IT leaders and peers to drive and prioritize analytics opportunities with stakeholders.

Experience/Knowledge Required:
  • 10+ years of work-related experience in related fields. 5+ years of experience in (data, and application) architecture design, and development.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to present to diverse audience across business and technology.
  • Experience with big data, database development including SQL, and a solid understanding of both relational and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Have worked with Enterprise-class analytics technology stacks including Data Warehouse Platforms, Big Data Platforms and Reporting Technologies.
  • Expert in cloud platforms, preferably Google Bigquery, CloudSql, Dataflow, Pubsub, Composer, Dataproc, Bigtable and other bigdata related GCP technologies.
  • Has in-depth understanding of cloud design patterns, cloud operations and cloud cost models with the ability to implement best practices or suggest improvements.

Nice to have:
  • Hands-on Java, Go, Python, SQL development experience, coding enterprise applications, including the ability to error test, identify root-cause and remediate to ensure code quality.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau etc), data caching, cube design and OLAP tools. Experience in SAP technologies will be considered an asset Retail experience preferred
